PotD: Frame of Mind - /dance

This is an oldie, but I still think it's a wonderful piece of machinima storytelling.

The trick to really great music videos is finding the balance between visual and audio. A simple example is the changing of scenes on heavy beats.

I can see why this video won the machinima competition. The story flow follows the direction of the music so deftly. You can tell this was carefullly storyboarded and planned out by a master.

The introduction is the best part; creating a character, meeting friends and playing in the grey, setting the storyline and a slow building up the scene like the slow build-up of the music, lovely visual elements.

It's also important to avoid being too literal - the point is not to tell the story of the lyrics, but to tell the story of the music.
